My fascination with very thick textured oil paintings was reinforced during a trip to the Orlando Museum of Art. This painting emulates a heavy oil stroke style. The piece represents myself transformed to stone by Medusa. Intent is a somewhat dysfunctional relationship of love.

Character Design Concept (Finalized)

This conceptual character was drawn by hand & finalized in Maya. The character depicts a ballet prodigy currently employed at the A.B.C (American Ballet Company) in NYC.
The line of action was used from Mikhail Baryshnikov's dynamic movements during one of his amazing performances. The scene emulates dim lighting of a loft style ballet studio in NYC. (rigged specifically for posing). Be advised that this project was for a class that spanned only 1 month. Juggling this with another class was a massive workload. Responsibilities: (Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Lighting, Rendering (MentalRay), Composing)

Egypt's Lamp of Myth

I had a lot of fun learning (still learning) about mentalray & this resulting scene was a small personal project done to test those skills. This lamp is modeled from a actual Egyptian antique as reference. Displacement/bump maps along with subdivison approximation nodes were used for the detail on the lamp & the desert. The sky was photographed by myself early in the morning. Dry desert grass is Paint Effects. Depth of Field was applied in Maya. The scorpion & traveler are photos composited in Photoshop. The sand ripples around the base of the lamp & scorpion's legs were added in Photoshop as well.
Feedback is always welcome.
Everything except Mr. Sub-Zero is created by my doodling. Lots of layers, blending modes & styles.
